Universal Solo RPG Toolkit

Play Any RPG by Yourself

Looking for a simple way to play your favorite tabletop roleplaying game solo? The Universal Solo RPG Toolkit is a free, two-page PDF designed to turn almost any RPG system into a solo adventure.

You do not need a dedicated solo game, a complicated emulator, or a large collection of reference books. This compact toolkit gives you the essential procedures and random tables needed to create scenes, answer uncertain questions, generate locations, introduce NPCs, build plots, and add unexpected complications.

What Is Included?

The first page explains a quick solo-play procedure and includes a straightforward 1d6 oracle. Ask a yes-or-no question, judge whether the odds are likely or unlikely, apply the modifier, and roll. Results range from “No, and…” to “Yes, and…,” allowing the story to move forward naturally.

You will also find tables for:

  • Scene types
  • Scene conditions
  • Adventure locations
  • Travel, exploration, combat, mysteries, hazards, and social encounters

The second page focuses on story development. It includes a complete plot generator made from objectives, opposition, and twists. A few dice rolls can create an adventure involving a rescue, hidden place, dangerous journey, stolen object, rival adventurer, magical threat, betrayal, blocked path, or unexpected reward.

The toolkit also includes detailed NPC tables covering:

  • Role
  • Personality trait
  • Attitude
  • Need or motivation
  • Secret

Additional tables generate complications, discoveries, rewards, clues, strange omens, new enemies, hidden entrances, treasure maps, allies, artifacts, and other developments. Everything is presented in an illustrated fantasy layout that is easy to print or keep beside you during play.

How to Start a Solo Adventure

Choose the RPG system and character you want to use. Roll a scene type, location, objective, opposition, and twist. Begin playing normally, using your chosen game’s rules for combat, skills, magic, and character advancement.

Whenever you would normally ask a game master what happens next, ask a clear question and roll on the oracle. When you meet an important character, use the NPC generator. When the adventure slows down, roll a complication or discovery.

Within a few minutes, you can have a complete adventure ready to play.
